How I fill holes on cabinet drawer fronts

Today I am filling holes on these cabinet drawer fronts, they are going with a large hole pattern just on the drawers. First I drill the hole slightly large then it is not with a drill bit fit to the size of the dowel I use. Quick note, drilling from the front side prevents any splintering which can happen when the drill pokes through the other side unless you have something backing it. I roll the dowel in a little wood glue and tape it into the hole from the backside, I like to leave a little recess on the front side for the filler. I use DAP plastic wood which sands super easy. I then do two more rounds of filler with 3M Acryl Putty, using the red and putting this on sparingly as it is a little harder to sand off but gets smooth as glass.
I sand all fillers down with 180.
